At the Children's Museum of Memphis kids can experience hands-on, interactive exhibits that will conjure up their imagination.
Although sometimes the word "museum" makes children groan, the Children's Museum of Memphis offers a learning environment more fun and entertaining than any cartoon or movie! More than a dozen permanent exhibits and additional traveling exhibits offer an interactive fun zone where kids will learn as they play - and where their parents and other adults will learn to play right alongside them. Art Smart
- Kids can draw, paint, and create in this area centered on creative works. A stage and karaoke machine offer chances for performing arts experiences - including musical shows puppet shows, and more - and visual art activities allow children to learn about colors, graphics, and more!
Bank
- Your child will learn more about the "wonderful" world of finances that Mom & Dad deal with each day at the bank where they can "cash checks," make ATM withdrawals, and try to crack the bank safes. Bank security cameras also offer a glimpse of what is going on in other parts of the Children's Museum of Memphis.
CityFriends
- Learn about the use of the 9-1-1 emergency system, then watch as your children put on their equipment and board the fire truck to learn more about the men and women who save lives everyday! Other interactive fun includes a real police motorcycle and a miniature ambulance.
Garage
- Although parents surely dread their child's sixteenth birthday, kids do nothing but dream about driving from a very early age. At the Garage, kids will be able to "drive" a van, learn how cars work, and much more. Don't worry, Mom ... they'll be wearing their seatbelts!
Going Places
- Spirits will soar sky-high at Going Places exhibit, where kids can take flight with a simulator, then sit in the pilot's seat inside a real airplane cockpit! Other fun features include a powerful wind tunnel, a control tower, a hot air balloon, and much more!
Growing Healthy
- Kids will crawl through the arteries of a heart, explore the organs of the popular "Stuffee" doll, and much more at this area focused on health and the human body. Help your child build the food pyramid, and watch as they ride a bicycle on Mars and become a member of a hospital surgical team!
Kid's Market
- After learning to drive in the "Garage" exhibit, you'll be able to send the kids out to get groceries at the Kid's Market. The little ones can take a shopping cart and hit the aisles of the market, then head up to the cash register where they'll get to learn math skills using the cash register to ring up and pay for the items!
Playscape Park
- Designed specifically for the smallest Children's Museum of Memphis visitors - from newborns to age four - and their parents, Playscape Park offers special activities and learning experience for kids and adults to interact.
Recycle Factory
- Learn about limited resources and recycling at this fun and interactive area, where kids can sort recyclable items and make fun creations with recycled materials.
Skyscraper
- A favorite for kids, the Skyscraper stretches 22-feet into the air! This wood and wire maze lets children climb up eight stories as they make friends - and choices on the best way to the top - as they play and learn!
Time Square
- The inner workings of clocks and watches is explore here as kids and families learn about time, its effects, and its meaning.
The Tooth, The Whole Tooth, And Nothing But The Tooth
- This fun and informative area allows your child to play dentist as they learn about the importance of dental care. Special equipment allows for a close-up look at their own teeth, and the adjoining diner helps teach children about the effect eating certain foods can have on their teeth.
WaterWORKS!
- Traverse a 50-foot model of the Mighty Mississippi in this exhibit which looks at fish and other marine life, pumps, rain, and all things "water."
Your House, My House: Windows to the World
- Kids will learn about building, construction, and architecture in America before looking through the "Windows to the World" to see how other cultures design the homes they life in!
