A new look and better location for the Memphis National Basketball Association team is here! Located on the most talked about street in the city,
Beale Street,
FedEx Forum is the new home to the
Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA. The arena first opened its doors back in September of 2004 and has additional interest now with the University of Memphis Tiger's men's basketball team playing their home games here as well.
The $250 million arena was financed by the public for a new venue in the city's downtown area. This was the first arena to install "see-through" shot clocks so that it would not interfere with the view of the court and action. This arena can hold up to 18,500 people for a basketball game, this includes 2,500 club seats and 75 luxury suites.
The FedEx Forum hosts events that are not sport-related as well, with many concerts being a main key to their income. Artists such as R. Kelly, Jay-Z and The Rolling Stones have all performed here along with many other big names. There are additional things happening in this jumping spot throughout the year that you might not expect. Other acts at FedEx Forum include the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, The Wiggles and World Wrestling Entertainment's RAW. With so much happening, it should be almost impossible not to find something every personality can enjoy.
The FedEx Forum can be found at 191 Beale St., accessible from many highways. A roundtrip shuttle bus and trolley lines run within a few blocks of the arena and the Forum itself has an attached parking garage. Within one quarter mile of this venue you will find an additional 6,700 parking spaces.
