Graceland Mansion
Graceland Mansion
Settled on 14 acres, the mansion that the Presleys called home is the second most famous house in America and one of the most visited homes in America today.

Memphis is the place to be if you're a fan of Elvis. Of course you have to visit Graceland, but after that you could take a day trip to Tupelo to visit Elvis' birthplace. Tupelo, Mississippi is located about one hour and 45 minutes from Memphis and here you'll find Elvis Presley Park. The park includes the Elvis Presley Birthplace, museum, memorial chapel, and a lifesize statue of Elvis at age 13. The park is a designated Mississippi Landmark and also features recreation facilities for picnics and other social gatherings.

Elvis Presley Birthplace

You can tour the this small two room house where Elvis was born and lived until he was about two years old. The Presley family then moved next door to live with Elvis' grandparents. They moved several more times in Tupelo and in 1948, the family packed their bags and headed to Memphis searching for a better life. The birthplace home is a must for any Elvis fan.

Elvis Presley Museum - Times and Things Remembered

This museum first opened in 1992 and consists of the personal collection of longtime friend of the Elvis and the Presley family, Janelle McComb. The collection consists of photographs of Elvis along with his friends and family, concert and movie photos, records, tapes, personal items, furniture from Graceland, and clothing that belonged to Elvis.

Memorial Chapel

The chapel was dedicated to fans in 1979, and today it is available for weddings and other receptions. The chapel features beautiful and elegant stained glass windows along with gospel music that fills the room. The chapel is also a great place to just spend some quiet time to reflect.

Elvis Presley Statue

The statue is located on the grounds of the park and depicts Elvis at age 13. Complete with guitar in hand, the statue shows us Elvis as a carefree child with big dreams. He had the talent and determination to make those dreams come true.

Elvis Presley's Graceland Platinum Experience
Being a long time fan I was very excited and was not disappointed. I would advise adding transportation to the tours....it is far from the city and a cab was a touch expensive.

I love it!!!!!!!
Being born in the early 50's I grew up with the Elvis generation. Even my mother got all reved up when we saw him perform on Ed Sullivan. We both loved his music and him. He (Elvis) sort of set a guideline of how women should be treated. He put the romance in the word love. The message was in his songs. Now wonder he had such a following...I visited graceland recently and was suprised that his gracious home gave a sense of realism to he he was as a person. He lived in a house just like you or I might have. How down to earth is that? Truely, I felt love in this house. I also felt him there. You could visualize his mom cooking in the kitchen. He and his friends jamming in the rec room and playing pool. His awards and achivments were amazing. This was a trip I wanted to make for many years and also to pay my respects to the family. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to do so May 2007 and will go again. The other exibits were amazing as well. I feel honored that I could make this trip.
