Christmas at Graceland

Graceland Mansion
Graceland Mansion
Settled on 14 acres, the mansion that the Presleys called home is the second most famous house in America and one of the most visited homes in America today.

Bright Christmas lights and colorful displays are always a beautiful site, but the decorations at Graceland are especially unique because the holiday traditions and decorations that Elvis loved and enjoyed are kept alive.

Elvis loved Christmas and was very fond of decorating for the holiday season. It was a tradition to put up decorations after Thanksgiving and leave them up until around the time of his birthday on January 8th. Elvis began decorating Graceland in the late 1950s and on the front lawn he first had a large Santa complete with sleigh and reindeer with a message that read "Merry Christmas to All, Elvis". He soon changed his decorations in the 1960s which included a life size nativity scene as well as lighted aluminum trees that stood at the front of the mansion, and the driveway of Graceland was also outlined with hundreds of blue lights.

Today, Graceland continues those Christmas traditions by authentically showcasing both displays as well as using Elvis' original decorations. The fabulous lights of Graceland are turned on the friday evening after Thanksgiving at approximately 5:45PM. The interior of the mansion is decorated as well, with ornaments and displays including Colorful poinsettias which add Christmas flare to the inside of the mansion and of course Christmas trees which are located in several rooms. All the festive decorations both inside and out remain in place through Elvis' Birthday Celebration in early January.

During Christmas in Graceland, you can enjoy all the the beautiful lights and decorations that celebrate the holiday season. Seeing all the colorful displays and fun festive decorations will put you in the Christmas spirit.

Elvis Presley's Graceland Platinum Tour
My daughters and I went there in April of 2001. Stayed at the Heartbreak Hotel in the Platinum and Gold suite. Had the best time of our lives. Had dinner at the beal st restaurant. Our meal consisted of fried banana sandwiches and banana pudding. To sum it all up walking through the doors of the graceland mansion we definately felt his presence there. Intend on returning very soon.
