Celebrate Fall in Memphis

Fall is a truly magical time of year in Memphis. With the foliage changing colors and taking on the bright crimson and golden hues of the season, and the air carrying with it a certain crispness, the scene in Memphis is set for an amazing getaway. The city itself offers you a variety of activities and events to enjoy while you are visiting the area this fall, with something for those of all ages and interests.

For family fun in Memphis this fall, head over to the Cedar Hill Farm in nearby Hernando, Mississippi for Halloween-style festivities. This farm is open to the public every weekend in both September and October, and is filled with activities for all ages. The younger visitors will love spending time getting to know the farm animals at the petting zoo. Your family can also relax and take in the scenes of the countryside with an old-fashioned hayride, or experience the ultimate thrill with a walk down the trail of terror. Before you head off after a great time in the country, be sure to stop by the pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkin for your Halloween jack o' lantern. Enjoy lodging close to the Cedar Hill Farm when you stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Southaven, the Best Western Goodman Inn and Suites, and the Comfort Suites.

On certain dates in September and October, the Agricenter International on Walnut Grove in Memphis hosts seasonal festivities for the whole family. For the last five years, locals and visitors alike have enjoyed the challenge of the Agricenter's corn maze and haunted maze. The family will love making new memories together with the corn cannons and with a hayride through the area. Spend some time reflecting on the season in front of the bonfire before searching for the perfect pumpkin to take home in the pumpkin patch. You can stay close to the action at the Agricenter by choosing lodging at the Comfort Inn and Suites, the Embassy Suites Memphis, and the Quality Inn Memphis.

The cooler air of fall months in Memphis provide you with the perfect atmosphere for exploring the Mud Island River Park. This seasonal attraction covers five riverfront blocks in Memphis, and is open through October 31. With a visit to the Mud Island River Park, you can learn more about life on the Mississippi River and the importance of the river. Take a ride on the Swiss monorail along the river and watch the barges cruise slowly down the river. Then listen to interesting narration about the river with a guided tour of the Mississippi River Walk. The River Walk takes on you a shortened journey along the Mississippi's path from Cairo, Illinois through New Orleans. There are several fine hotel options within a half-mile of the Mud Island River Park, including the Crowne Plaza Memphis, the Marriott Downtown, and the River Inn of Harbor Town.

If you're in the mood for some musical entertainment during your visit, the fall line-up at the FedEx Forum is sure to knock your socks off. The FedEx Forum is a new arena in downtown Memphis, built in 2004. This venue hosts sporting events as well as world-class musical acts. With its innovative use of high tech features throughout as well as comfortable seating and amenities for visitors, the FedEx Forum is the perfect place to catch a show in Memphis. On October 5, you can catch How Sweet The Sound at the FedEx Forum. Then Maxwell hits the stage on October 20, and Miley Cyrus will rock the house on October 21. Hotels close to the FedEx Forum include the Doubletree Hotel Memphis Downtown and the Holiday Inn Select Downtown.

There is something for everyone to enjoy in Memphis this fall!
