Playa Olas Atlas in Mazatlan, Mexico
Though Mazatlan will not go out of its way to attract tourism, this
does not mean that the town will ignore those guests who pay a visit.
The Zona Dora is where most of the attractions, accommodations, and
activities for tourist can be found. Hotels line the pristine beaches
and shops and restaurants line the charming streets
Playa Olas Atlas in Mazatlan has the honor of being the first beach
geared specifically towards tourists. With this group in mind, the city
of Mazatlan was sure to place every amenity that could be needed for a
day at the beach. The beach is located within walking distance of most
major hotels. Restaurants and pubs are in the area to provide a place
to take a break from all the sun and surf while enjoying a nice meal.
Playa Olas Atlas begins at the seawall and is ideally suited for
surfers. The name of the beach translates into "Big Wave" and rightly
so. Surfers flock here during the summer to take advantage of the
waves. There are several shops nearby that sell surfing goods just
incase one is bitten by the surfing bug and needs to join in the fun.
Swimming here can be treacherous at times. Visitors who do not surf
will enjoy relaxing in the sea side cafés, strolling along the beach,
or even wading.
Since the formation of Playa Olas Atlas, other beaches have cropped up
that also cater to tourist. But only Playa Olas Atlas has the
distinction of the first to be aimed at visitors from all over the
globe.
