Beaches play a large part in vacations, often being the major destinations spot. When people travel to Mexico, whether as an individual, couple or entire family, there are many things to do and attractions to see. If lying on the beach is on your itinerary, the Playa Camaron in Mazatlan, SI may be the perfect spot for some real sun in the fun. Located south of Mazatlan, it's a rocky cove that makes for some great photographs in addition to the beach qualities it possesses.
Playa Camaron is a very narrow yet steep beach that has coarse sand all along the shore. It is located in what the locals and tourists consider the "Golden Zone". The name came because of the perfectly swirling waves, crystal sandy beaches and gorgeous sunsets. Another meaning for the "Golden" is the golden memories that tourists take home with them and the gold that people will gain from working in the Zona Dorada. The Zona Dorada is to Mazatlan with "the strip" is to Las Vegas.
Because of the beauty of the Playa Camaron and the Playa Gaviotas, there is an entire strip of hotels that have been successful in keeping the tourists happy and coming back. The beach is great for those that enjoy surfing. Tourists have only to see a surfer graciously moving through the waves to get the desire to jump right in, whether to wade or swim. There are some sections of the beach that are quiet and secluded and other parts that are lively and full of tourists and activities. The liveliest part is the part between El Cid and Joe's Oyster Bar.
