Tamarack Lodge and Resort is located on the Twin Lakes, in the Eastern Sierra mountains. It has proved a popular resort since its opening in 1924 and is the perfect place for a skiing holiday, to enjoy summer activities and family get-togethers.
There are 32 cabins and 11 lodge rooms at the resort. All cabins have a kitchen, private bathroom with all kitchenware and linens provided. The cabins have a telephone, and firewood is provided for the wood stoves. Although the cabins are snow-bound in winter access is provided by on-snow trails. There are new deluxe cabins offering a little more comfort with a gas log fireplace and full kitchen. The lodge rooms, have shared or private bathrooms, and guests can make use of the lobby and bar downstairs.
The Lodge's restaurant, Lakefront, with it spectacular views, features traditional French cuisine and the local influences of the eastern Sierra. Lunch items include the classic French onion soup, a Mediterranean sampler, oven-roasted crispy roast duck, or your own-caught trout expertly prepared and cooked. Dinner appetizers include wild mushroom strudel and escargot bourguignon. Choose from entrees such as walnut-crusted chicken breast, elk medallions au poivre and the mixed game selection. There are fine French cheeses and desserts including a wild blueberry tart, to complete a great dining experience.
The Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center is adjacent to the Lodge and organizes ski and skating lessons and passes for the miles of cross-country trails around Twin Lakes and Mammoth Lake Basin. The Center organizes many events including the Full Moon Snowshoe Walks.
