Being aware of the weather, especially when you're planning a ski vacation, is important for a great vacation experience.

Winter

With the opening day of ski season occurring in early November, Mammoth Mountain winters come around quickly, and by the first official day of winter in December, Mammoth Mountain is in full swing of winter activities and climates. However, winter temperatures are not as frigid as they are in other northern or eastern ski cities. Mammoth Mountain has the benefit of a good amount of snow in the mountains and higher winter temperatures. For a winter ski vacation, make sure you pack the appropriate ski gear and attire (layers of polypropylene, fleece or wool, and a waterproof/breathable shell) plus warm winter clothes.

Most resorts close around April, but Mammoth has enough snow in the mountains to keep ski season going even into the summer. Therefore, if you're coming to Mammoth in the spring, be prepared by bringing ski attire but also lighter clothes for time off the slopes.

If you're traveling to Mammoth Mountain in the summer, you'll find an assortment of summer activities plus skiing and snowboarding in the mountains, depending on that year's ski season and when you visit.

When packing for a vacation to Mammoth Mountain in the autumn, you'll want to bring warm clothes and of course, ski gear and attire if you're going later in the season.
