The Mill Creek Historic State Park isn't just an old mill in Mackinaw City but a sprawling 625 acre state park that can offer unlimited sights of beauty while in the area. Of course, the highlight of the park is certainly Mill Creek. In the 18th century Mill Creek became one of the Mackinac area's first industrial complexes, serving lumber to the settlement. Today tourists can visit the mill and experience how it used waterpower to slice logs more than 100 times a minute. Reenactors and naturalists will be around to help paint a picture of the 18th century, and help answer any questions you may have about the area.
And when exploring the area around the mill has grown old, the 625 acres that comprise the historic park provide a number of trails to explore. Whether you find yourself lost in nature or history, you'll easily be able to get lost for lengths at a time when visiting the Mill Creek Historic State Park. The park is open from late spring to early fall, with a small admission fee applying.
