Michigan's first state park, Mackinac Island is an outdoor enthusiast's dream with incredible stone formations and beautiful canopies of cedar and birch trees.
Eighty percent of the island is still park land, with dozens of footpaths crisscrossing 1,800 acres and Michigan's shortest highway--M-185--circles the island with a solid surface for walkers, bicyclists, and horse-drawn vehicles.
Be sure to pick up a Visitor's Guide with suggested tours and maps at the State Park Visitor's Center and museum store on Main Street.
