Built in 1780, Mackinac Island's Biddle House is known as the oldest building on the island. The original owner of the house was Edward Biddle. He and his wife purchased the house in 1832, passing it on to several generations before it finally left the family's hands. In the mid 20th century the house was restored and handed over to the Michigan Island State Park Commission as a historical landmark.
The main focus of the Biddle House is life in the 19th century, as explored through the Biddle family. Through craft demonstrations and reenactments, the Biddle house will teleport your family back to 19th century Mackinac Island. The Biddle House is open during the summer season (late May to early October), with a small admission fee applying.
