Mackinac Island Weather and Packing InfoThe Mackinac Island area experiences cold winters and comfortably warm summers. Since the heaviest tourism times are during the summer months, you can look forward to mild and comfortable temperatures during your vacation. Spring - In March, the average temperatures range from the low twenties to the mid thirties, April sees temperatures in the low thirties to mid forties, and May temperatures range from the low forties to low sixties. At this time of year, you'll want to bring a warm jacket and warm sweater for the cooler climate. Summer - Summer sees temperatures range from the mid fifties to the low seventies. Lake breezes make the weather comfortable. Bring short sleeves and sunscreen to help with the summertime sun. Fall - September and October temperatures average in the fifties and sixties and drop to the thirties and forties come November. Pack that jacket, sweaters, and some long pants for the evenings. Winter - The winter months are cold with average temperatures in the tens and twenties, at times dropping to below zero. Much of the Island is closed during the winter, and the ferry runs less frequently. If you are going to be on the Island in the winter months, you'll want to bring a coat, boots, and plenty of warm clothes. Packing Advice Regardless of what time of year you travel, good preparation and common sense is a good rule of thumb to follow.
