The College of St. Joseph located in Rutland is an independent, co-educational Catholic college. It occupies a 90 acre wooded campus in a rural setting close to the edge of city. The College was founded by the Sisters of Joseph in 1956 and for over 50 years has provided a safe and 'family-like' environment for students from across the United States and overseas.
The College attracts students from different faiths and backgrounds and prides itself on small class sizes, student-centered learning, and an annual enrollment of around 500 students. The college offers over 30 degree programs for associate, bachelor and master degrees. There are flexible learning programs with day and evening classes in education, liberal arts, business and psychology and human services. The College's Giorgetti Library is available to both students for study and research, as well as being a resource for the local community. It has a collection of over 54,000 volumes and holds three special collections - The Kyran Murray McGrath Irish Studies, the Sister St. George Vermont Collection, and a Curriculum Resource Library.
The College has men and women's soccer, basketball, softball, baseball and volleyball teams that compete in the NAIA Division II, and the campus is only a short distance from the ski areas of Killington, Pico and Okemo. The surrounding area is perfect for other outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking and canoeing.
The College offers campus visits on weekdays, on Saturdays by appointment and on the designated Open House weekends. These visits give prospective students the opportunity to find out about the college from current students, administrators and faculty.
