This fascinating and tradition-laden operation is located in the wonderful small town of Grafton, Vermont, within easy traveling distance of historic Ludlow (home to the Norman Rockwell Museum). Plummer's Sugar House is operated by third-generation members of a family that has tapped the sugar maple and produced great maple syrup for more than three decades.
In addition to providing consistently great syrups and other products, Plummer's Sugar House regularly advertises featured products, such as maple syrup from Vermont in earthenware jugs. These unusual items make great gifts and add to the atmosphere of any American home. In addition, Vermont syrup from native maples makes a great gift. (Try some fantastic Maple candy as a gift. The recipient will glad you did.) No prices or marketing is associated with gift orders.
But the tasty surprises don't stop there. Plummer's Sugar House also offers maple cream and other maple-based delicacies. The businesses has attracted numerous fans who have never visited the Vermont location. These repeat customers rely on the World Wide Web and Plummer's shopping and shipping system to get them their maple goodies.
John and Debe Plummer put in about 4,000 taps in mid-February, to being the maple syrup process. Then it is mostly a matter of waiting for the daytime weather to warm sufficiently for the sap to run to holding tanks. Sap is then boiled and made into some of the best syrup available.
Plummer's Sugar House gift shop is open seven days a week. A free tour of the sugar house is available with any purchase from the store and gift shop. (802) 843-2207.
