Ludlow, Vermont Weather and Packing Advice

If you'd like to take a ski getaway on the East Coast, Ludlow, Vermont is an ideal destination, and like any vacation that is primarily outdoors, you'll want to have a good idea of the area's weather conditions. Below, you'll find a description and packing advice, high and low temperatures, and average precipitation for each season. Keep in mind, though, that this information is for the town and village of Ludlow and not in Okemo Mountain.

Winter

You can expect cold temperatures and lots of snow during a Ludlow winter. By the time winter officially begins, ski season has already begun and will last until after winter has officially ended. If you're going to take a ski vacation during the winter, make sure to pack warm clothes and appropriate ski gear. When hitting the slopes, you'll want to be wearing three layers: a base layer of polypropylene, an insulating layer of fleece or wool, and waterproof/breathable shell.

Although temperatures do warm up in the springtime, Ludlow does not see an extremely warm spring. Ski season does not end at Okemo Mountain Resort until late April, so winter weather conditions commonly carry over until the end of spring. Spring tends to be a wetter season in Ludlow as well, as monthly averages are near or over 4 inches. If you're visiting Ludlow during this season, be sure to remember your winter clothes and gear.

Ludlow's summers provide a pleasant break to the long, cold winters. Being an East Coast town, it is expected that temperatures averagely do not exceed 85 degrees Fahrenheit. However, July, Ludlow's warmest month, experienced a record high of 97 degrees Fahrenheit in 1995. Therefore, do bring your summer attire when visiting Ludlow at this time of the year but also be prepared for some slightly chilly evenings.

Ludlow temperatures undergo notable changes in the autumn. Ski season begins in early November, making autumn a relatively short transition to winter. Cold temperatures and the area's first snowfall are expected during this season. You'll, of course, want to bring your ski gear and attire if you're traveling to Ludlow to catch the beginning of ski season. However, even if you're going to Ludlow in the early autumn, it would be wise to pack warmer clothing.
