Brennan House Historic Home in Louisville, KY
As many people find history very exciting, there many ways of seeing it. In fact, Louisville, Kentucky, the Brennan House is now one of the most viewed historic homes!
When visiting the Brennan House, you will not only be able to learn about the family as to what they did in their lifetime, but you will also be able to see all the many pieces and collections that they left behind! Today, the Brennan House is considered to be the last private homes in Louisville's business district downtown that is remaining. The house is also one of two in the state of Pennsylvania to still have a complete and original family collection.
The house itself (which dates back to 1868), is a three story Italian style home made of brick, that is also furnished Victorian styled. Along with the home, there is also the doctor's office on the north side that was added in 1912 by John Arvid Ochterlony Brennan.
When visiting the home you will see all the many items and artifacts that the Brennan's had along with what they purchased during their lives; along with many items that they built their home out of! Some of the items you will see are signed Tiffany lamps along with very elaborate crystal chandeliers, hand-carved bedroom and dining room furniture, spectacular silver service, the collection of family pictures, along with many different books.
Whether you see a little bit of the Brennan house, or you stay all day; it is definitely a home/museum that is worth going to! Not only will you be able to learn about the many things of the past, but you will also enjoy seeing how people once lived! In fact, many people are now getting married at the Brennan House Museum!
