Whether you are a lover of nature or just want to be alone for a day, a great place to be is at the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve; which is in Louisville, Kentucky.
For many that have never heard of the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve, it is located on 41 acres inside of Jefferson County. Also, it is located near the Joe Creason Park and the Louisville Zoo.
It was in February of 1982 that Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve was dedicated to Jefferson County; as being the second growth woodland in the county. Because it is located so close to the zoological gardens, it is a very popular area with the birds; therefore, making it a great for education and recreation.
When going to the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve, there are many things that people can do while being there. In fact, it also features many different kinds of migrant birds, as well. You may also watch all the birds in the green space, go hiking on the nature trails, or have a nature study. In fact, there are over 180 different species of shrubs, trees and wildflowers, 150 different species of residential and migratory birds, as well as 30 different butterfly species.
Along with it being a nature preserve, there are also many different kinds of camps that are held at the preserve each year, as well. At the camps you will be able to play many different games, have guided hikes, and have fun nature studies. The purpose of the camps is to learn about nature hands-on.
