Sunset Boulevard was designed as a linking route between gritty downtown Hollywood, where the stars work, and the lush residential avenues of Beverly Hills, where the stars live. The twenty-mile thoroughfare undergoes several transformations along the way that allow visitors to experience Tinseltown from various perspectives. The first part of the Boulevard passes dozens of Hollywood attractions, including historic Paramount Studios, Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, Charlie Chaplin Studios, and Will Rogers State Historic Park.
The street turns into the Sunset Strip through West Hollywood, best known for its hip nightspots, restaurants, and boutiques. From there visitors will finally pass through the wealthy residential neighborhoods of Beverly Hills and Bel-Air, where glimpses of the mansions appear beyond the trees. The final leg of Sunset Boulevard travels through the lovely wooded foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains before making its spectacular exit at the Pacific Ocean near Malibu.
