The Queen Mary Ocean Liner has a long and important history. The Ocean Liner was in operation from 1936 until 1967. In the late 1930s she transported many people across the Atlantic in style. In 1940 the ship began transporting troops. The British ship became an important part of the United States war effort in the 1940s. She was the first ship that was able to carry an entire military division at one time. She also transported important officials such as Winston Churchill to visit President Roosevelt during World War II.
After World War II, the Queen Mary continued in operation until 1967. During that time she transported both royalty and common citizens across the Atlantic. In 1967 she was sold to the city of Long Beach, California.
Today the Queen Mary is part museum, part hotel, part shops, part entertainment and part restaurant. It offers something for every visitor. The 307 room hotel includes every modern amenity and a self guided tour of the vessel. Special events, including weddings, happen regularly.
There are various events that happen each day and each night at the Queen Mary. You can purchase different admission packages for the ship. All admission packages include a self guided tour of the vessel and access to the Ghosts and Legends of the Queen Mary show. The Ghosts and Legends show takes place at the swimming pool where paranormal events have been reported.
The Queen Mary is both a historical attraction and a unique place to meet friends for a drink or spend a night in a hotel. Many visitors find it to be a remarkable destination for all of those reasons.
