When the hankering for the best chili dog in town hits, residents, visitors, and celebrities all converge on Pink's Hot Dogs. From its humble Depression-era beginnings as Paul Pink's hot dog cart in 1939, Pink's has risen in fame, if not in size, to become one of the best-loved eateries in Los Angeles. The small roadside building, built in 1946 on the same spot where the pushcart once stood, is the site of a daily pilgrimage as businessmen, movie stars, children, dignitaries, and everyone in between come to get their fill of Grandma Pink's famous chili dog recipe.
The menu features hot dogs of every variety, as well as sandwiches, burgers, and sides. Inside, visitors will find the Wall of Fame covered with autographed pictures of the stars. Visitors will most likely find a long line at Pink's, but the service is fast and the shot of nostalgia — and the hot dog -- is worth the wait.
