The only major studio still located in Hollywood, Paramount Studios is a sprawling venue that continues to turn out one megahit after the other. Rich in cinematic history, Paramount began in 1913 in a rented horse barn and is responsible for introducing the world to such legendary actors as Rudolf Valentino, Gary Cooper, Claudette Colbert, Mary Pickford, and William Powell, as well as directors Cecil B. DeMille, D.W. Griffith, and Alfred Hitchcock.
The studio also has the distinction of being the first to win the Academy Award for Best Picture for its 1927 film Wings. Paramount offers a two-hour walking tour that leads visitors through the famous wrought-iron double-arched Bronson Gate and into the vast network of studios, back lots, and sound stages where the movie magic happens.
