Nicknamed "Bad Boy Drive" for such past and present residents as Marlon Brando, Warren Beatty and Jack Nicholson, Mulholland Drive is a small, meandering road extending from Pacific Coast Highway all the way to Hollywood. The drive loosely follows the ridgeline of the Santa Monica Mountains, and from that vantage point travelers enjoy great views of the Hollywood sign, downtown Los Angeles, Burbank, Universal City, and the San Fernando Valley.
In the middle of the drive there is an unpaved section that is not open to cars, but that is popular with hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders and also offers several other unpaved roads and trails to explore, as well as a Cold War memorial park. A lovely drive both by day and by night, the best views are between Encino and Hollywood.
