Since its founding in 1910, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has amassed a collection of more than 100,000 works of art representing cultures from around the world. Highlights of the Museum include masterpieces from Europe, America, Latin America, and Korea, as well as collections of Islamic and contemporary art and the beautiful Pavilion for Japanese Art. A number of special programs and tours offer visitors a more in-depth look at the exhibitions.
The 15-minute Spotlight Talks focus on one work of art while the longer In Focus Tours and Exhibition Talks highlight one artist, style, or movement, or guide visitors through special exhibitions. The Museum presents an active schedule of special events, including film and music programs, educational activities, art classes, and lectures, and visitors also have access to the Museum's research library. Indoor and outdoor dining is available at Pentimento and the Plaza Café, which also hosts regular music performances.
