In the early 1900s a film company from the east wandered into the small agricultural village of Hollywood in search of a warmer location to finish a film shoot. News of this wonderland of sun and unusual landscapes made moviemakers start arriving in droves until, in 1914, Cecil B. DeMille's The Squaw Man became the first feature film made in Hollywood and the movie industry was born.
The industry expanded rapidly throughout World War I and Hollywood quickly became the movie capital of the world. In recent years most of the big studios moved to other cities, leaving Hollywood itself in decline for many years. New efforts to revitalize the area have been successful, and Hollywood is once again a popular destination for tourism and night life with a host of new trendy bars, clubs, and shopping. But visitors who want to relive the Golden Age of Hollywood can still do so through the dozens of wonderful historic theatres and sites like the Walk of Fame, Grauman's Chinese, and Paramount Studios.
As the winter chill comes across most of America, there are many looking to find an escape to a sunny and scenic location, where they will not only find nice weather but a time full of relaxation and fun, like Los Angeles, California.
