A tradition since the first performance there of the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1922, music under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl is one of the most popular summer activities in Hollywood. The Bowl sits on 120 acres and is one of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world, seating almost 18,000 people. The summer home of the Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Bowl presents a wide variety of musical events each year, including jazz, classical, Broadway and world music.
Over the years some of the greatest legends in entertainment have performed there, from Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra to Baryshnikov, Pavarotti, and Elton John. Visitors can enjoy a pre-concert picnic on the grounds, a gourmet meal served right at their seats, or dinner at the Rooftop Grill. Fireworks spectaculars, movie nights and arts festivals round out the Bowl's summer programs. Visitors can also take the Bowl Walk, a great way to learn about the theatre's long history and enjoy the grounds.
