Located right in the heart of Hollywood is the Capitol Records Tower which looks, appropriately enough, like a stack of records with a needle on top. Designed in 1954, the Tower was the world's first circular office building and is now one of Hollywood's most recognizable landmarks. The outside ground floor of the building features a mural of Capitol Records recording artists past and present, and the lobby displays many of the gold records awarded throughout the label's history, including those for The Beatles.
Visitors are welcome to peruse the collection in the lobby, but no public tours are given of the building itself. A nice touch that visitors shouldn't miss is John Lennon's star on the Walk of Fame, which is situated right outside the doors of Capitol Records and serves as a spot for candlelight vigils.
