EARTH DAY AT THE FARMERS' MARKET in Beverly Hills near Los Angeles, CA
Every year on the Sunday closest to Earth Day, the Beverly Hills Farmers' Market celebrates by showcasing local vendors and businesses that are dedicated to making our planet more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Though the Farmers' Market is, by nature, a green event, Earth Day is especially significant because small local businesses who may not have the chance to otherwise be seen get to tell the thousands of attendees what they do and how and why they are helping the planet. Past vendors have been green landscape designers, organic clothing boutiques, green home contractors, sellers or of organic beauty products, and biofuel proponents.
The Farmers' Market is held every Sunday on the 9300 block of Civic Center Drive in downtown Beverly Hills from 9 AM to 1 PM. Every week, farmers from all around Southern California attend the market to sell fresh and organic vegetables, fruit, flowers, meat, seafood and dairy. Visitors can buy their food with a clear conscience, knowing that it is local, organic, and pesticide and cruelty-free. Earth Day occurs on April 22 every year, and the Earth Day celebration happens on the Sunday closest to that date.
