When the Performing Arts Center or as it was called then, Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts opening in 1976, it was a theatre that held 7,500 guests. It was part of a huge renovation project. In 1996, the resort underwent more restoration and remodeling and had to reduce the seating to 7,000. It was at this time that they changed the name to The Theatre for the Performing Arts. When they redid the theatre, they restructured the curtain sections so the theatre could easily reconfigure the stage to different audience sizes from 2,500 to the capacity of 7,000 and still maintain its elegant appeal.
The Theatre for Performing Arts has had some very upscale and well-known performers such as Linda Ronstadt. This year they have the wonderful world of Mariachi music bringing you the Mexican history and culture as you've only dreamed of seeing it on stage. Previous Mariachi stars have been Los Camperos de Nati Cano and Vargas de Tecaliten and this year will be every bit as great.
