Colorado has always been a major tourist attraction for three primary reasons: its weather, its mountains and its rivers. Combine all three and you have a national park, a sight definitely worth seeing and a naturalistic adventure that many tourists feel is far more exciting than an amusement park. One way to experience the thrill of natural Colorado is by taking a Colorado River Raft Tour. A river raft ride is safe, very scenic and an experience that the whole family can enjoy. There are three river raft tours worth highlighting. These rivers will let you experience the majesty of Colorado and take you and the family on a real life adventure.
First there is the Colorado River Raft Tour. On this tour you sail in a raft and take in some epic scenery: the Hoover Dam, towering several stories above you. You can get a picture from the bottom of the dam as you board a Black Canyon raft. Your guide will send on a rapid free float of the Colorado River, which is located at the base of the Hoover Dam. As you float along the river, the guide will show you all of the animal life located in the area, existing in their natural habitat. What is some of the wildlife you can expect to see? You may see a flying Osprey or a Desert Big Horn Sheep near the wall of the canyon. The Great Blue Heron may also surprise you somewhere along the riverbank. The good news is that you get to take your camera or video camera and the trip lasts about nine hours.
The Canyon River Adventure offers even more scenic views, courtesy of plane and raft. You start by flying over the Grand Canyon and taking in views of the Colorado River from afar. After landing you go through a walking tour of the area known as Antelope Canyon, followed by a free breakfast. Then you start on the float trip up the Colorado River, which lasts about four hours. You get a picnic lunch right around the riverbanks, and then drive back to the Grand Canyon South Rim. The drive (which transports you inside a van) also offers some breathtaking views. This is truly an all-encompassing adventure, as it takes you by land, by boat and by air to see the beauty of Colorado.
The Smooth Water Float Trip is a more relaxing alternative to the other two tours and takes you to similar locations so that you can observe the Grand Canyon and Colorado River. You can see ancient rock formations, as well as hundred feet walls, all the way from the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area to the Grand Canyon National Park. You also get to see the Navajo Indian Reservation and the Painted Desert. You travel by luxury motor coach for part of the way and then take a motorized inflatable river raft for a calm float down the Colorado River. You also get a complimentary lunch another bus ride back to your location. Since the trip is 12 hours, you have plenty of time to take pictures and video of all your favorite Colorado sights.
Don't miss these river raft rides, which truly bring out the beauty of Colorado.
