For a first rate Anasazi tour, Anasazi State Park in Utah is an excellent choice. Developed on a site once occupied by the mysterious, ancient Native Americans, the park is on Highway 12, 28 miles northeast of Escalante and 38 miles south of Torrey. Here you can visit a museum, and tour the excavated ruins of a village that was once home to about 200 people. Archaeologists have turned up such artifacts as pottery, arrowheads, axe heads and other tools. In some locations usually perishable items such as baskets and sandals have been found. All are on display in the museum. A diorama shows what everyday life in the village would have been like.
