If you are a parent of a child from the ages of 2 and up, then going to the Hands On House Children's Museum, which is in Lancaster, Pennsylvania; is the best thing you can do for them!
Although many people have never heard of the Hands On House Children's Museum, it is a rather popular museum. In fact, the museum has been serving children from the ages 2-10 with programs and hands on exhibits since 1987. In fact, since the doors have opened, the museum has seen more than 525,000 people!
In the very beginning, the museum was in a history farmhouse, the Pierce Landis House, but in 2000 the museum was moved on the Landis Valley Museum campus. In fact, the new building was built with the specifications that the children's museum needed; which is 7,300 square feet. Much of the funding for the new building was provide by state allocations as well as community funds. Either way, the children's museum is a non-profit organization as it is to help kids have fun while learning!
When it comes to the museum, it is designed for children between the ages of 2 and 10. Also, it is designed for the children and adults to not only play but to learn together, as well. When teaching the children, the museum has the saying "learning lasts longer if it's more fun". Therefore, there are many exhibits, programs, and classes for the children to learn from! All the exhibits shown are custom made as well as themed along with having activities to go along.
Some of the exhibits you will see are the Corner grocery; where you can shop for groceries and pay at the register (learning about the 5 food groups), Mostly Make Believe; where you learn about literacy through play and discovery.
Whether you take your child to the museum just once or a couple times a week, it will be beneficial as they will be learning as well as having fun; especially with other children their age!
