Fulton Opera House in Lancaster, PA

12 North Prince Street
The Fulton Opera House in Lancaster is over 150 years old and enjoys a colorful history while presenting the residents of the area with many productions including vaudeville, contemporary theater, opera and more.

For many years, the theater made a slow downhill slide until the property was restored to its original showcase style that attracted many people from miles around over 100 years ago.

The Fulton Opera House, one of the country's oldest operating theaters, is located in the center of downtown Lancaster. It is one of less than ten in the entire nation to be named a National Historic Landmark.

With the lodging and restaurants in ready access, you have the makings of a great night out when you couple it with a performance at the Fulton. The productions are well-staged and the actors are top-notch and fun to watch.

The opera house boasts many acting greats over the years and has its own production company with electricians, set designers, carpenters, painters, sound and light technicians and even a separate workshop for the costuming, makeup and a wig maker.

You can take a tour of these historic facilities Monday through Friday around 11 a.m. but for weekends, you must make an appointment. The tour group must have at least six people or more. This is a must-see stop when you are in Lancaster and if you can stay overnight, take advantage and catch a show at the Fulton Opera House and imagine what it was like 150 years ago.
