Annual Labor Day Festival of the Arts

With 100 fine art and contemporary craft booths, the Annual Labor Day Festival of the Arts in Mammoth Lakes, California, brings together shopping with a Native American experience.

Held at the Sam's Wood Site, the festival include a Native American village with Native American artists, hoop dancer Sage Romero, and Cowboy Photography.  Visitors can shop at the 100 arts and crafts booths, providing mostly hand made goods.  Food from around the world will be available at the event, including Red's hot dogs and sausages, Thai BBQ and Gilroy Garlic Products for all to enjoy.  Cool down with local beer samples provided by the Mammoth Brewing Company.  Some of California's best wines are also available to sample.  Sandy and Twinkie, the famous clowns, will perform for children, making balloon animals for the audience to take home.

Performances will go on throughout the festival from the Sierra Studebaker Bluegrass Band. While some may enjoy a weekend of shopping, its not for everyone. Others can check out the  the Million Dollar Trout Stock, based on the fish that populate the rivers in the area, which is held in conjunction with the Festival of the Arts. Fishermen from around the country come to fish during Trout Stock, competing in the tagged trout competition with cash and prizes available. There is also live entertainment, fishing lessons for the little anglers, trout cooking, and much more. Both the Festival of the Arts and Trout Stock occur Labor Day weekend. These events are ones the fishermen and arts and crafts fanatics of the family won't want to miss.
