Take the kids on a day trip to Reno from Lake Tahoe. Take Mt. Rose Highway to Incline Village and heading north around Tahoe take Highway 28 to the Junction of Highway 28 and 89. Roundtrip mileage will probably be 71.6 miles.
The famous Reno Arch, erected in 1926 in celebrating the completion of the Transcontinental highway through Reno as 'the biggest little city in the world.' Especially in July, Cultural activities never end when downtown Reno has its 'Reno is Art Town' even.
Attend a concert, ballet, art show, poetry reading or ballet. The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is another excellent venue for a Reno concert. This is the home of the Reno Philharmonic, the Nevada Festival Ballet and the Nevada Opera. On Reno's Virginia Street sits the center for gambling and special events where the newest multi-coin, multi-game videos include blackjack, poker and keno.
Visit the horses at the Palomino Valley Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Center, where wild horses receive food, water and medicine. Take hundreds of pictures on the road back at Highway 50 which offers great views through the Cave Rock tunnel back to Tahoe.
