The Lale Placid Sinfonietta is situated in Lake Placid, in the Adirondack Mountains.
It is in residence during July and August and performs concerts in the Lake Placid Arts Center. It is an established orchestra, and has hosted over 90 seasons of performances. The orchestra is made up of 20 experienced musicians from orchestras and universities across the U.S.
The Symphony Series offers a full program of afternoon and evening concerts featuring many famous composers from Mozart, Bizet and Shubert to Rogers and Sondheim. Highly-acclaimed solosits from around the world perform with the orchestra including sopranos, harmonica players, pianists, violinists and bell-ringers.
The Sinfonietta holds free Pops in the Park events during the summer in Mid's Park. Visitors can picnic on the lawn or pull up at the shore and listen on board their boat. There is children's march to the last piece of music and a raffle to raise funds for the Orchestra. Performances usually have a theme and past favorites have included American Salute, An Evening by the Lake, Music under the Stars and We're Russian to the Park Concert!
The Orchestra also hosts special performances through the year including the Musical Fireworks on July 4th which is a free perforamnce for young people, and gives them the opportunity to meet the musicians and find out more about the music and the orchestra.
Tickets are available from the Lake Placid Arts Center. The Sinfonietta offers a Subscription Season Ticket which guarentees preferred seating and provides discounts on ticket prices.
