You may be one of those people who think that while the offerings of Lake Placid are great for those who enjoy skiing, snowboarding, climbing and golfing but there is not much of anything else. Well, you would be wrong. Lake Placid has a lot to offer visitors besides its fabulous mountain scenery and winter sports. Lake Placid also has its own Arts Center, so if you are in the area and feeling artistically minded then you might want to take a look and see what the center has to offer its visitors.
The Lake Placid Arts Center is easy to find and is located on Algonquin Drive in Lake Placid. The center was made possible because of public funding from the New York State's Council on the Arts and from donations by various bodies. The Arts Center runs a scheduled program of dance, plays and other musical entertainment throughout the year. Most of the events at the Arts Center are open to Lake Placid residents and visitors alike. The Arts Center runs a number of workshops some of which are aimed at adults in the community and some of which are for kids, many of these are free.
The Arts Center also runs a fine arts exhibition and will sometimes have an artist in residence. The center also runs workshops and other educational programs for the local community and its schools. In addition to this the center is also available for use by the community when they want to host events such as the Farmer's Market.
