Adirondack Museum On Main in Lake Placid, NY is a means of teaching people all about the history of Adirondack as well as the way the people survived and lived in the Adirondack wilderness. The Adirondack Museum was established in 1953 with the purchase of the Blue Mountain House to be used as the building for the museum. Boats, wagons and many other remnants of the Adirondack history were collected and put in the museum. When they had the majority of what they needed, the museum was open to the public.
