Powder Hounds in Kimberley, BCPowder Hounds in Kimberley, British Columbia has been offering snowmobile tours to visitors since 2002. Tours are conducted by friendly, knowledgeable staff that works with anyone, regardless of the level of experience in snowmobiling.
On the tours visitors get the opportunity to enjoy the quiet mountain town of Kimberley. Visitors get to experience the snow covered trails and amazing beauty of the East Kootenay backcountry and Canadian Rocky Mountains. Snowshoots, boots, helmets, gloves and goggles are provided. Visitors are only required to bring a sense of adventure and a camera. Powder Hounds Professional Guides offer two three-hour tours every day. Each tour covers approximately 50 kilometers. Snacks are also provided. Powder Hounds Snowmobile Tours is located one block north of the Platz on Jerry Sorrenson Way at the Kimberley Underground Mining Railway's Interpretive Center. Tours can be booked by calling 250-427-0022. There are programs and tours available for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. Tours involve riding alongside a skilled snowmobile guide. The company is co-owned and operated by Chris Plamondon who says the company's aim is to "give guests an ultimate winter getaway." Chris owns the company with her husband Dan. The two decided to start the business as a way to fill a need for winter sports activities that involved more than just skiing. Powder Hounds Snowmobile Tours was involved in providing a snowmobile tour for Kyle MacDonald, the red paperclip guy. Kyle MacDonald exchanged his 1992 snowmobile for a tour for two in the Kootenay Rockies from Powder Hounds Snowmobile Tours. "Of course we feel very honored and excited to be asked to be part of the red paper clip tour to Yahk," Chris Plamodon had been quoted as saying.
