Kimberley Public Library is in Kimberley, British Columbia.It's located at the corner of Kimberley and Spokane Street and has been there since 1980. It's located in the heart of the community and is within walking distance of many local restaurants and quaint shops.
The library has an extensive collection. The collection includes atlases and maps, audio books, area topographic maps, books in various different languages, career and job search information, college and university calendars, directories, encyclopedias and dictionaries, government documents, large print books, ESL materials, magazine, music tapes and CDs, newspapers and pamphlets.
The Kimberley Public Library also carries an extensive collection of items for young adults and children. There's young adult fiction and non-fiction, audio and video cassettes for children, picture books, easy reading books, and juvenile fiction and non-fiction.
The library holds Story Time for Tots for a half hour from September to June, Wednesday and Thursday mornings starting at 10 am. This is a free service, but pre-registration is recommended. The program is for 3 to 5 year olds.
There's also the annual Summer Reading Club that was sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association (BCLA). Every year highlights a different theme. Those who participate in the reading club get a reading record booklet, and get to enjoy games, prizes, displays, bookmarks and special programming. The library is open Tuesday to Saturday. Each of these days it's open from 10 am to 5 pm except for Thursdays when its open until 8 pm. The library is closed Monday and Sunday.
The library recently formed the non-profit organization, The Friends of the Kimberley Public Library Society. The purpose of the society is to enhance the library's current programs and services. Four categories of memberships can be purchased. Cost ranges between $5 and $50
