Outback Pizza in Killington, Vermont has a reputation for great pizza, and as a live music venue at weekends and during the winter season. The large fireplace with cozy seating also makes it a popular apres-ski hang-out. Kilington may have over a hundred restaurants but this is definitely a favorite — fans will travel from miles around for an Outback pizza.
The pizzas are prepared using unbleached flour with extra virgin olive oil and your favorite toppings — mozzarella, prosciutto, peppers and garlic sausage. They're cooked in the brick wood-fired oven at a temperature of over 1000 degrees. The pizzas have quirky names such as the Hawaii-Pie-O with pineapple and prosciutto, the Loose Zeus with feta and olives, the Vermonter BLT, and the Bochagaloo. Monday night is pizza buffet night, and they're half price for the first hour on Sunday and Tuesdays
The interior has an Australian outback theme, and there are five bars and a small dance floor. Try a draft beer poured from one of their unique oak tree taps or a $2 Long Trail draft on a Sunday night. Your glass will have made a trip outside on the conveyor belt above the bar to be naturally chilled. The venue hosts live acoustic music sessions every night and the nightclub Tabu has DJ sessions and dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. Outback is busy at the weekends and through the winter season, eat in the bar rather than waiting for seating in the restaurant.
Outback's owners run three other restaurants in the areas Casey's Caboose, Sante Fe Steakhouse and Wally's Grill.
