arm and Wilderness Camps offer young people a great outdoor experience that is both challenging and fun. The Camps offers children an opportunity to develop new skills, learn about themselves and the world around them.
The Farm and Wilderness Foundation, founded on Quaker beliefs and principles, sponsors activities for children and adults based on building stronger communities and valuing co-operation, simplicity and responsibility. Year round the Foundation runs activities including five summer residential camps and a day camp for younger children. There are camps specifically for boys - Timberlake and Flying Cloud, and for girls such as Indian Brook. Other camps offer a co-educational experience such as 'Saltash Mountain'. Each camp offers a varied experience where different skills are learned such as self-reliance, adventure, and rustic-living skills. There is also a five-day camp for all the family to enjoy the experience.
September through May the Camp has an organic farm which offers various opportunities for community groups and interns to learn more about organic gardening methods, and looking after animals.
The Wilderness Trips, such as hiking and canoe expeditions, allow young people to explore the wild areas of the mountains and rivers. The Camps also fosters a spirit of community through learning to work together and resolving conflict, and they provide time for reflection and worship.
There are also opportunities for fun and creativity with songs, games and art projects and other 'home grown' entertainment. The Camps hold many events through the year including the Harvest Work Weekend, summer fair and barbecue.
