The Summerland Keys, Florida
Florida is best known for its sun and great tourism industry. Visitors from all over the globe flock here during the summer months to take advantage of the beaches, the attractions, and the golden sun that has given rise to Florida's nickname; The Sun Shine State. Beyond Cape Canaveral and below Orlando with its famous mouse are the Florida Keys.
Stretching from Miami and into the Florida Straits these 1,700 islands are home to various places of interest and resorts. The most famous of the keys is Key West, one time home to famed author Ernest Hemmingway. Just east of Key West is Summerland Key which provides ideal vacationing at a slower pace. After visiting Hemmingway's home, come back to Summerland for a quieter stay.
Summerland Key is known for its white beaches and gentle blue waves. It has that beach community vibe without overdoing it. Visitors may wish to rent a house for a summer or for a few weeks on the beach and wake up each morning to the beauty of a sunset. Other lodgings such as condo and villa rentals are available as well as various hotels.
Snorkeling and diving are popular past times on Summerland Key where the blue waters yield a bounty of sights like tropical fish and coral. Walk along the beach during low tide to spot sea shells and marine life.
Since Summerland is so close to Key West and Big Pine Island there are plenty of attractions to visit and sights to see. Look Park is a great place to picnic and has tables and pavilions just for such an occasion.
Summerland Key captures the tropical atmosphere of the keys perfectly. Visitors will love the laid back attitude that may be lost with the larger Keys.
