This museum represents more than 200 years of Key West History through the lives of a prominent Key West family, the Porters.
You'll learn about Key West's literary history, pirate folklore, daily island life, and so much more. The Porter family has lived on the island for seven generations. Inside the home you'll find furnishings, antiques, and other unique items. You'll also find may unusual seafaring artifacts. The family had many literary connections and entertained many famous people from the past. Poet Robert Frost spend many winters in a cottage in the garden. Tennessee Williams, Gloria Swanson, Tallulah Bankhead, Thornton Wilder, and Sally Rand are among the may famous names that were guests of the family. The Porter family has a rich history in Key West and the family contributed a great deal to help others triumph over the economics hardships of the Great Depression and the deadly outbreaks of yellow fever.
