The Dry Tortugas National Park Ferry in Key West, Florida has two ferry's that offer tours of the Dry Tortugas National Park.
The Yankee Freedom leaves Key West at 8 am. Visitors who take this ferry trip will enjoy a continental breakfast with bagels, donuts, fresh fruit, cereal, orange juice and coffee.
The tour guide, a naturalist, will give a presentation about the national park and the area. Visitors will get to see the Boca Grande and the Marquesa where dolphins and turtles are regularly seen.
The Yankee Freedom travels at 30 mph. It has a fully air conditioned main cabin with cushioned seats and three restrooms. There's a full galley with snacks, soft drinks, various alcoholic beverages, camera film and even souvenirs. There's also a fresh water rinse shower.
This ferry has an upper deck that's open. There are shaded and un-shaded parts on the deck as well as a cocktail bar. Cost to ride the Yankee Freedom is $139 for adults, $99 for children, and $129 for students, seniors and military personnel.
The other ferry, the Sunny Days, also leaves promptly at 8 am. It's a high-speed power catamaran, which is great for anyone who experiences motion sickness. Fewer people experience motion sickness on catamarans.
The Sunny Days was launched in 1999. It featured an air-conditioned cabin, continental breakfast, buffet lunch at the 4.5-hour stop at Fort Jefferson, complimentary soft drinks, water and ice tea, snorkel gear and freshwater rinse on board. Travel time is two hours each way.
Cost is $120 for adults and $85 for children 17 years old and younger. Students, seniors, and military personnel receive a discounted rate of $110.
