For all the children and adults that love sea animals, the Aquarium in Key West, FL is the most exciting and unique aquarium in the world. This fascinating tourist attraction has been open since 1934 after Key West gave its charter up to the federal government during the Great Depression. Because of the great weather condition and the location of Key West, the government felt Key West would make a great tourist attraction. They hired the Works Project Administration to come in and build the Key West Aquarium. When they built it in 1932-1934, it was built as one of the largest open air aquariums around. Since then, they have added large outdoor holding pens and an Atlantic Shores exhibit.
Key West Aquarium is an educational and fun site that has live demonstrations with much of the sea life. Guided tours are available for many of the sea animals. You will even get to pet a live shark. There are certain times of the day when you can watch the fish and shark feedings. The feedings are four times a day, so hopefully you'll be able to see one of them. The kids will love the Touch Tank, too. The Aquarium has many different kinds of fish such as grouper, moray eels, tarpon, parrotfish and many more. If you have a computer, you can view the Key West Aquarium by looking at their underwater web cam on their webpage.
Key West Aquarium has always been very popular with adults and children. They are open most days of the week for many hours during the day. Check this fascinating place out.
