In front of the Wailua Golf Course is a 2-mile stretch of sand. It is quiet here. Crowds rarely come this far. This makes it secluded and the perfect place to relax. Here, you can lie back enjoying the sun beating down and listening to the surf come in. This is Nukoli'i Beach Park. It runs from Radisson to Lydgate State Park and as far as the Hilton Hotel. While Lydgate State Park may be busy with picnickers, things are quieter at Nukoli'i Beach Park. Nukoli'i Beach Park is sometimes referred to as Kaua'i Beach or Kawailoa. It is a long stretch of clean white sand. Here and there, you can find brightly colored pieces of coral, polished glass and different shells strewn on the beach. They are washed up by the incoming waves. At the end of the beach, you can often see fishermen throwing their nets into the sea. At the South end of Nukoli'i Beach Park, you can find facilities. Beyond that, you can walk further following a beaten trail. You can use the waters, but you need to pay heed to the conditions. There are slippery rocks, sharp coral, strong currents and high surf. You can snorkel on days when the undercurrent is not strong. On other days, walk over to the reef-protected small pool at Kaua'i Keiki Beach. This is just to the right of Nukoli'i Beach Park. If you want to, when you are finished at Nukoli'i Beach Park, you can go play golf at the nearby golf course or move over to the busier Lydgate State Park.
