Allerton Garden in Kauai, Hawaii is part of National Tropical Botanical Garden and is known as a historical garden area. It is located between the Pacific Ocean and the McBryde Garden. The Allerton Garden is in the stunning Lawa'I Valley. It is a garden that was tended to by a Hawaiian Queen, a sugar plantation owner and an artist and architect. It has a colorful past but that is nothing compared to the beauty you will find within the Allerton Garden. It has transformed over the years into a masterpiece of art and design and nature. The garden presents itself with garden rooms that are laid out between the Lawa'I Stream and cliffs in the valley. There are pool, waterfall and fountains I the garden as well, making good use of the stream.
Allerton Garden also features European influenced statues and is sheltered by rainforest trees. It is blanketed in bamboo, tropical flowers and fruit trees. The main theme of the garden is about the landscaping and the use of nature to form a perfect treasure. The Allerton Garden does contain some important species of plants including palms and gingers. The actual ground where the garden is located was once the summer cottage for Queen Emma in the mid1800s. It is named for other former owners of the home, Robert & John Allerton. The home still stands and has been restored. The Allertons worked to transform the gardens and add to the whole look and feel of the place to create the garden we see today.
