Of course, this site is, or was, primarily a popular flea market destination. But as many people will say, the name can fool those unfamiliar with what this institution has to offer. Most visitors remember Westport Flea Market in Kansas City for the burgers, said to be the best available in the city. Other menu items apparently rival the hamburgers for taste and quality, because "the Flea" is a very popular restaurant.
Located west of Kansas City's bar district, Westport Flea Market offers a wonderful atmosphere and reasonable prices on drinks. Most visitors rave about the generous parking available, a key factor in today's auto-centered society.
Live music added to the Flea Market offerings attracts a large number of revellers on Friday night and Sunday night. In addition, the arcade, darts and foosball are also quite popular with the regular crowd. There is no cover charge on Sunday, even when there is live music.
But there is more! The Westport Flea Market is now a preferred destination because of its trivia nights on Wednesday. Admission is $5 per person, with registration beginning at 7 p.m. In keeping with the unusual atmosphere and name, the Flea Market has a reverse happy every night from 9 p.m. to closing time (select beers at reduced price).
Those wishing to entertain a group at this unique location can reserve a party room for $1 per person. Appetizers are offered at a discount price with rental of the party room.
But this Kansas City tradition wouldn't be what it is without the actual flea market, which is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Rental spaces are available.
