Those who think they have discovered something new in V's Italiano Ristorante are in for a surprise. The roots of this fine dining establishment go back more than 40 years, to a small café that had room for about three-dozen patrons. Since that time, the family of Vita and Jay Totta have added to and improved their offerings to make V's one of the preferred dining destinations in Kansas City.
Based on quality family recipes and solid tradition, as well as a personal touch guaranteed by Vita, the café clientele grew quickly. When the owners began to experience waiting lines, it was time to expand. The purchase of a nearby building only three years after opening allowed the restaurant to more than double its size.
But the quality food, great atmosphere and excellent service led to yet another decision to expand. This time the couple thought about designing their own building and making it a reality. This new structure would, the family hoped, provide an old-world feel while continuing great service for customers.
Less than 10 years after the first café opened, the present structure was finished, with room for 150 people in the dining room, a wonderful lounge and private banquet rooms. Fast forward to the present and V's continues to provide top-quality food, excellent wines and cocktails and great service.
Located on U.S. Highway 40 in Independence, Missouri, V's features a delightful Garden Patio with a waterfall that adds to the comforting atmosphere, grape arbors, banquet service and catering service. V's Sunday brunch is popular among both locals and visitors.
